Maja Puseljic has recently graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours in a Bachelor of Music. Commencing her piano studies with Anna Grinberg, she transferred to composition in her third year where she was under Rob Davidson’s tutelage. Last year, her chorale piece “Place far From our Home” was premiered at the UQ Art Gallery and received high acclaim. Maja has established herself, not only as a talented composer, but as a distinguished songwriter in the Brisbane music scene, performing regularly in venues around the city. In 2014, she performed at Woodford Folk Festival with her trio and is working towards releasing her EP early this year.
As a composer, Maja not only teaches the fundamentals of music theory but also emphasises to students’ the importance of expressing their own creativity. She specialises in teaching piano of all levels and enjoys working with others on their own music. Having received Kodaly training at James Cuskelly’s Summer School Program; she particularly encourages younger students to sing and develop their aural abilities. Maja is passionate about teaching music and loves working with students’ of all ages and levels.
