I started on the piano when I was a four year old and I completed my ATCL (two levels beyond grade 8) from the Trinity College of London by the time I finished high school. (This qualification is similar to an AmusA from AMEB or a dip ABRSM from the Royal Schools of Music). I then joined an international choir where I used to accompany at times (if not accompanying I would sing the first bass). I was also was a regular church organist/pianist in Chennai, South India.
After coming to Australia, I play at Toowong Baptist church (both piano and the bass guitar). I have been exposed to a wide range of music like classical and church music to rock, jazz etc. Over the years I have won several inter-school, intercollegiate piano solo competitions and also best-instrumentalist awards at state level competitions from the age of 10. In fact, in many of my grade exams that I attempted, I got the highest mark in the South India-Chennai centre for the Trinity College exams, bagging a few awards each year – one of which was the youngest candidate award for the level.
I am extremely passionate about teaching (guess I could say that runs in my family since both my parents were organists and my mom was ATCL qualified teacher as well). I’m here to help students learn music. I can also help students prepare for their grade exams – both practical and theory and also improve your exam/audition pieces.
