David Jenkin


David was born in New Zealand, and moved to Brisbane in 2007 to study at the Queensland Conservatorium with Oleg Stepanov. He completed Bachelors and Masters degrees in Brisbane, and was awarded numerous prizes for both solo and collaborative playing. David performed widely across Brisbane as a chamber musician during this time.

David moved to London in 2013 to study at the Royal Academy of Music, and completed a Master of Arts in Piano Accompaniment in 2015. While at the Academy, David studied with Michael Dussek and James Baillieu. While in London, he was involved in a wide variety of musical activities, ranging from Chamber Tots Children’s Music Programme at Wigmore Hall, playing in the Academy’s contemporary music ensemble, The Manson Ensemble, and giving recitals with instrumentalists and vocalists in many venues across London.

David has had masterclasses with pianists such as Matteo Napoli, Graham Fitch, Steven Savage, Anton Voigt and Gabriel Kwok. As an accompanist he has played for classes given by Maxim Vengerov, Susan Bullock and Peter Bruns and as a chamber musician has been involved in lessons with members of the Takács and Endellion Quartets.

David is also an experienced teacher, and loves sharing his passion for music with his students. He has taught a wide variety of styles, from beginners through to more advanced musicians.
